Pigeon in Indian custody on suspicion of being a spy

India and Pakistan have never been close friends.  This latest fiasco is very unlikely to help their relationship.  Indian officials have recently captured a suspected Pakistani spy. The fact that he’s a bird doesn’t seem to matter.

According to the London Evening Standard: “The bird was found on Wednesday with a message written in Urdu attached to its tail in the village of Manwal in the Punjab, around 4km from Pakistan.”

After being captured and turned over to the police, the bird was X-rayed.  According to the police, nothing suspicious has been found.  However, this didn’t lower suspicion, or make the pigeon any less guilty.  The Times of India quotes super indented of the police Rakesh Kaushal: “This is a rare instance of a bird from Pakistan being spotted here. We have caught a few spies here. The area is sensitive, given its proximity to Jammu, where infiltration is quite common,” said Kaushal.

In the wrong place at the wrong time?  Or is the bird actually a spy?  Who can tell?  All I know is that this story’s for the birds!  (sorry, that joke sucked.)
