Man Sues Art Museum for Paintings of White Jesus

This is just silly.  We all know Jesus was white!  He was a Republican good ol’ boy, too!

A man by the name of Justin Renel Joseph is suing the New York Metropolitan Museum of Art for exhibiting paintings of Jesus Christ that depict him as white.  Mr. Joseph’s reasoning that showing pictures of “White Jesus” promote discrimination.

The blatant works of racism include:

‘The Holy Family with Angels’ by Sebastiano Riccimet-museum

‘The Miracle of the Loaves and Fishes’ by Tintorettomet-museum-2

and ‘The Crucifixion’ by Francesco Granaccimet-museum-3

Now let’s be fair, these paintings were made hundreds of years ago.  Everybody knows minorities didn’t exist back then!  We were all white, like God intended!

The Independent reports:  “They completely changed his race to make him more aesthetically pleasing for white people,” Mr Joseph told the newspaper. “I’m suing a public venue which by the Civil Rights Act of 1964 can’t discriminate on a protected basis.”

The fact that these paintings were made long before the Civil Rights Act has nothing to do with the argument!  Laws work backwards through time, right?

The museum defended its Jim Crow-esque ways, however.

Metropolitan Museum spokeswoman Elyse Topalian said: “When they were painted, it was typical for artists to depict subjects with the same identity as the local audience. This phenomenon occurs in many other cultures, as well.”

Oh, so just because everyone else does it means it’s ok, huh?  Yeah, that argument never worked with my mom, either.  Nice try, though!

Court papers reportedly say that these paintings of “White Jesus” implied that there was no way someone as important as Jesus could look like Mr. Joseph, who is reportedly a man of dark complexion and black hair.  The papers also reportedly say that due to these paintings caused Mr. Joseph to feel rejected and unaccepted by society.

Hmm…  Kind of like how Jesus was rejected and unaccepted?
