Doug Whaley, general manager of the Buffalo Bills, recently said that football is not a sport people should be playing.
CBS Sports reports: “This is the game of football,” Whaley told WGR 550 radio, per ESPN.com. “Injuries are part of it. It’s a violent game that I personally don’t think humans are supposed to play.”
Now, by “human beings,” does he mean people or just the Bills? I don’t think he has to worry, because whatever it is his team plays, it definitely isn’t football. His opinions are ironic, however, since his job is to hire football players (many of whom claim to be human.)
Of course, there’s some truth to Whaley’s statement. The NFL recently released a report showing a 2015 season total of 271 concussions, 56 ACL sprains, and 170 MCL sprains. Still, I’m sure many football fans will find this surprising. Who knew people weren’t designed to ram each other headfirst at full speed?
