Senate Candidate Sends Voters to Anime Porn Site With Opponent’s Name

Sharron Angle is a Nevada Republican currently running for Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid’s seat in Congress. She isn’t running unopposed, however. Her primary opponent is Rep. Joe Heck. As one could expect from any political campaign, there’s been some mudslinging. Very rarely do things go from dirty to dirty, however.

In a recent newsletter published by Angle’s campaign, her opponent’s website was listed as “joeheck.com.” This was a slight factual error, as the actual website for the Heck campaign is “drjoeheck.com.” Where did the incorrect website lead newsletter recipients? It turns out that joeheck.com is a website for anime pornography. Maybe Sharon Angle was trying to call Joe Heck a tentacle monster?

Once this error was discovered, it was quickly fixed on the online version of the newsletter. Nothing could be done about the print versions that were mailed out, however. Let this be a lesson to you people: Proofread everything!!!

Politico reports: Angle’s campaign tried to shake off some responsibility for the mistake in a statement to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, saying it “has absolutely nothing to do with this domain, and sincerely apologizes for this printing error, as the Heck campaign has changed their web address a number of times.”
But Brian Baluta, Heck’s campaign manager, said Heck has only ever used drjoeheck.com and heck4nevada.com for his campaigns.
“The Angle campaign has been spreading misinformation to voters and unfortunately this is only the latest, ridiculous, dirty trick,” Baluta told the Review-Journal.

An embarrassing mistake, to be sure, one that may have awakened a few fetishes amongst some Nevada Republicans. Still, what’re you gonna do? All you can say is, “Well, Heck…”
