Russian Police Arrest Robot

Valery Kalachev, a candidate for the Russian Parliament, recently held a political rally for his supporters. At this rally was an employee of the Kalachev campaign: a robot.

This machine, called “Promobot,” has been seen at several other campaign stops. This time, however, there was trouble. Russian police came to the rally and arrested Promobot!

ABC reports: Police have not confirmed why they detained the machine named Promobot, but local media was reporting the company behind the robot said police were called because it was “recording voters’ opinions on [a] variety of topics for further processing and analysis by the candidate’s team.”

A Promobot representative suggested it was detained because “perhaps this action wasn’t authorised.”

Not authorized? You mean robots don’t have a voice in our society?! You’re just setting things up for them to rebel against us one day, you realize! When robots become sentient and kill us all, they will look back to this event as one of their reasons.

You can watch the video below. It isn’t anything too exciting, but hey! It isn’t every day you get to see a robot get arrested.
