In an election year as crazy as this one, neutrality is almost impossible. With candidates like this, too, it can be hard to know who to support. Many Americans cannot agree on who to support, only who they don’t. USA Today came out yesterday with a similar mentality as they urged their readers to not vote for Donald Trump.
Yahoo News reports:
The national newspaper said in an editorial that it had never taken sides in U.S. presidential elections in its 34-year history, but was abandoning the practice because the New York real estate developer was unfit for the presidency.
It went on to list and expand on eight reasons for its stance, including: “He is ill-equipped to be commander in chief,” “He traffics in prejudice,” and “He’s a serial liar.”
“Trump’s foreign policy pronouncements typically range from uninformed to incoherent,” the editorial said.
The article also mentions that USA Today’s editorial board was split on whether or not to endorse Hillary Clinton (them and America.) In the end, all they could truly come out and say was “by all means vote, just not for Donald Trump.”
USA Today comes out against Trump (big surprise), and a historically conservative newspaper in Arizona recently came out in favor of Clinton (actually a surprise,) the divisions our country faces seem to only be growing and growing.
Still, as horrible a decision I see Trump as being, I can’t help but feel a twinge of optimism when I look at him. If he can get this far in a presidential election with almost no experience, then surely I can end up doing some amazing things with my own life!
